SafetyCube

SafetyCube aims to create a Decision Support System (DSS below) that contains clear, reliable and easy to consult information. The project aims to systematically apply an evidence-based approach and certain proof in the selection and application of road safety policies.

The information in the DSS will be organized and structured to facilitate their use both by the industry and part of policy makers, and will be based on analysis, organized into a new methodological framework of causes of accidents, associated risk and efficacy of counter measures.

The DSS will also support policy makers in developing policies based on evidence and reliable data through examples of relevant themes, support to education and training, and by defining an operational framework for evaluation in the field of road safety.

More specifically, the project will analyse and use large amounts of existing data on road accidents (both macro and micro) and knowledge (e.g. existing studies) and assess the causes and risk factors according to their influence on road safety, the frequency of accidents, types of accidents and related social costs in each aspect.
