Innovative vehicle and systems
New technologies facilitating transport
Technological research and application research. These are the two fields in which the CTL moves on the front of new transport services, molded on the individual user's needs. In the first, the Center develops the technology needed to make them possible, the second studies how to realize them, implement them and with what costs and benefits. These researches are carried out in international contexts or in collaboration with industry and other research institutions.
As part of the application research CTL follows the two strands automation and innovative power trains.
The automation has three positive effects:
- Enhanced security: most accidents occur because drivers do not strictly follow the rules of the road;
- Greater respect for the environment: a driver can also cause emissions 100 times superior to another, equal to the vehicle;
- Makes the public transport more flexible and detailed, such as the private one: an automatic vehicle can go for other users when it has completed the service, does not use space for parking and allows its users to not waste time looking for one.
In the field of power trains the CTL has developed a method to their bottom up sizing and has shown that it is possible to conceive a more versatile vehicle for urban transport services even with an innovative and environmentally friendly power train.
VRA - Cooperation for the automation of road vehicles
VRA has created an open network to support the implementation of automation of road vehicles in Europe and beyond.
CATS - City Alternative Transport System
CATS was born from the objective of developing new types of innovative transportation that enable more efficient mobility in the city.
CityMobil2
CityMobil2 is a project about the ARTS, automatic road transport systems made of automatic vehicles and control systems.
