Raffaele Alfonsi

 

Degree in Political Science with economics in 2006, Raffaele has a Master's Degree in Antitrust and Regulation of Markets, specializing in the transport sector. He is currently a research fellow at the CTL and is completing a doctorate in Infrastructure and Transport at the Sapienza University, conducting research in the field of automation. Over the years, he has conducted research in various fields, such as: planning, sustainable mobility and road safety, with particular attention to aspects of the financial and socio-economic impacts. He is involved in European and worldwide research projects, such as GreenEmotion and the project on road safety in Cameroon, funded by the World Bank.

Olga Basile

 

Civil Engineer with transport specification since 2005 and a PhD in Infrastructure and Transport from 2012, Olga began to cooperate with the CTL in 2007, working and coordinating various projects under implementation plans of the National Road Safety Plan, such as: the SICURPAQ project for the creation of the Provincial Centre for Monitoring of the Province of Aquila, and the Sicura2 project, together with the Municipality of Avezzano. Over the years she has taken part in projects related to the planning of transport systems and the creation of plans relating to road safety and mobility (the Regional Plan of Freight Transport and Logistics, the Regional Mobility Plan and Transportation and the Regional Plan for Minor Ports, all relating to the Lazio Region). She is currently a research fellow at the CTL.

Andrea Campagna

 

Mechanical Engineer since 2001 and PhD in Transportation Engineering since 2005, he is currently a research fellow at the CTL. Andrea is an expert consultant in several European research projects, including: GIFTS, CyberCars, CyberMove, FREIGHTWISE, X-POSSE. He has provided advice for European projects of the MED program on transport, he worked in territorial cooperation and the development of transport and logistics within the APQ ITALMED project and collaborated in the studies for the Regional Plan of Transport and Logistics of the Lazio Region. He conducts training activities, as an expert, on the logistics, the supply chain management and the freight services, collaborating on several master's degrees, master for executive and university courses in the Faculty of Engineering of the "Sapienza" - University of Rome. Since 2012 he is the technical/scientific coordinator of the European project FUTUREMED by the Lazio Region.

Claudia Castaldi

 

Degree in Computer Engineering in 2004, Claudia conducts research in transportation at the CTL. In 2013 she received her PhD in Transportation Engineering with a thesis on the application of parallel programming techniques, both graphics cards and on the CPU, on route calculation and dynamic allocation. The main areas of interest of her study regard ICT and the various applications in the mobility and logistics sector. In the course of her professional experience acquired knowledge on ITS and on geo-referenced data management tools.

She has also acquired ability to design and software programming through different development environments (Microsoft Visual Studio) and programming languages ​​(Java, C, C #). In particular, in recent years, among the various activities, she has participated in a project for the development of a platform for the management of a fleet of vehicles, in a pilot application of an ICT system to the public transport and to the creation and validation of an interactive database prototype, within a thematic portal.

Fabio Cignini

 

Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2013, Fabio is research fellow since 2014 at the CTL. He provides technical support activities for research projects on innovative transport systems, equipped with ICT technologies, applied in various areas of mobility and logistics. In the course of his professional experience he acquired knowledge on vehicles with electric and hybrid drive, analyzing their environmental impact measurements and experiments on special facilities and equipment, and bringing to completion the construction of experimental prototypes with ad hoc electronic instruments for monitoring.

In recent years, among other activities, he tooks part in a project for the development of a responsive transport system with a diesel-electric vehicle in Aquila Municipality, in collaboration with the research center ENEA Casaccia, within the Smart-cities research.

Francesco Filippi

 

Professor of Transportation, on duty at the "Sapienza" - University of Rome until November 1, 2014. He was a founder and then director of the Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL) of the "Sapienza" - University of Rome. He has gained international experience in Brazil and India (2009), Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco (2008-2009), Mercosur (2008), China (2005-2008), Cameroon (1998) and Mozambique (1977-1978).

He also carried out research activities in Europe and elsewhere for DG VII, DG XIII, DG XVI, DGXVII of the European Commission and in all areas of the transport sector in Italy, where he conducted research, projects and practical applications. Specializations relate to transportation planning, the mechanics of vehicles, road safety, the environment, public transport, freight transport and logistics. He provided technical assistance to the government under various plans and projects at municipal, provincial, regional and national level.

Carlos Holguin Ortiz

 

Research fellow at the CTL, Carlos is an Industrial Designer with a Master in Transport and Mobility at the National School of Bridges and Roads in Paris (France). Since 2005 he has worked mainly in the international arena, on all aspects of integration of vehicles and road transport systems without driver, from vehicle design until they are needed for innovative mobility services.

He has been involved in several research projects funded by the European Commission like CityMobil, CityNetMobil and, from 2012, CityMobil2.

Veronica Meola

 

Degree in Law in 2012 and graduated from the School of Specialization for the Legal Professions of Tor Vergata in 2014, she is currently a research fellow at the CTL. She has carried out research on the application of penalties for road traffic offenses at a European level and in SaferBraIn and Naviki projects, topics for publications on News-Magazine "Road Safety", that she edited.

In research on institutional and legal barriers that comes in to road safety, Veronica has done research in the area of enforcement of sanctions for road traffic offenses at a European level. The research also involved the study and analysis of codes of Road Safety in several European countries (England, France) in order to innovate the present regulation in some countries, such as Cameroon, where the research center is engaged.

Eleonora Meta

 

Degree in Civil Engineering in 2011, Eleonora collaborated with CTL since 2014. She has experience in transport planning and design and is currently conducting a PhD in Transport and Infrastructure at the "Sapienza" - University of Rome. She collaborates in some projects nationally and internationally.

In particular, it is involved in BeSafe project, which aims to transfer to Belarus the latest knowledge and best practices developed in Europe in the field of road safety.

Loris Mezzavilla

 

Degree in Transportation Engineering in 2015, Loris is currently a research fellow at the CTL. He has experience in logistics and transport of goods, particularly in the urban distribution sector.

He has collaborated in the preparation of feasibility studies and urban transport plans.

He is currently engaged in the drafting of the Mobility Plan of Lazio Region (PRMTL) with regard to logistics and airport infrastructure.

Luca Persia

 

Luca is a professor at the offices of Rome and Latina and holds the position of Director of CTL since 2014.

Over the years, he has carried out research on various transportation issues, mainly related to the sustainability of urban transport systems.

In recent years he has devoted particular attention to methods and tools for improving road safety, coordinating several international research projects and national strategic projects.

Now he coordinates, among other activities, the Be-Safe project for the European Commission and the Cameroon project for the World Bank.

In addition, he is a member of several International Research Network and Editor of NewsMagazine Road Safety.

Massimo Robibaro

 

Computer Engineer specialized in Computer Networks from 2010, Massimo is a PhD student of Infrastructure and Transport. Over the years he has participated in the international arena, in several research projects related to road safety. Massimo has collaborated in the development of information support systems for the collection and analysis of accident data, enabling the activities of in-depth investigation (DACOTA and SaferWheels).

He has participated in projects financed by the National Road Safety Plan for the computerization of data of road accidents and contributed to the implementation of information systems to support innovative planning of road safety monitoring centers. Currently, among other activities, he performs microsimulations of vehicular traffic through the microsimulator TransModeler to assess the satisfaction of the demand by existing infrastructure traffic or to realize.

Maria Rosaria Saporito

 

Civil engineer specialized in transport since 2009 and a PhD in Infrastructure and Transport from 2013, Maria Rosaria is a research fellow at the CTL. Over the years, he has carried out research on road safety and mobility, on the assessment of the behavior of drivers and rail safety.

Nationally, she manages projects for the planning of transport services and the implementation of measures to improve road safety by cooperating with many regional, provincial and municipal administrations.

She collaborates with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and gives contribution to the National Agency for the Safety of Railways.

She is involved in European and global research projects, such SafetyCube, for the definition of new methodologies and tools for security management, and the project for the reform of the process of collecting data on road accidents in Cameroon, funded by the World Bank.

Marco Valerio Salucci

 

Mechanical engineer since 2000 and Doctor of Transportation Engineering since 2007, Marco Valerio has collaborated in research activities related to simulation and the preparation of plans for evaluation of the impact of transport systems. He currently works in the European CityMobil 2 project, which is focusing on automated systems for public transport on the road.

Marco Valerio is involved also in the preparation of case studies related to sustainable urban mobility cards, in the ELTIS European project, and the creation of the Mobility Plan of Lazio Region (PRMTL) with regard to the rail network infrastructures.

Veronica Sgarra

 

Degree in Architecture U.E. in 2008 and a PhD in Transportation Engineering from 2013, Veronica began to collaborate with the CTL in 2015, carrying out research in the field of transport. The main areas of interest that have occupied her activities are road safety, especially the two-wheelers, a subject on which she has written several scientific articles.

Currently she participates in the investigations on accidents of powered two-wheelers in the European SaferWheels project and the development of the Ports Plan of the Lazio Region.

Daniele Stam

 

Mechanical engineer since 2003, former PhD student at the Dits from 2005 to 2009, Daniele has a PhD in Transportation Engineering since 2010. He is currently a research fellow at the CTL. Over the years he has carried out research in different issues concerning transportation, such as: innovative transport systems, the application of technologies for information and communication to mobility, the study of sensor-vehicles and analysis of road traffic.

He has participated in several European research projects: CyberMove, CityMobil Cats and implementation of innovative transport systems in several cities, Capitals ITTS integration of mobility and tourism information for travelers, hosts on the development of a new concept of multipurpose vehicle.

He is currently part of the European project CityMobil2 Coordination Group, the largest research project on the fully automatic road transportation systems funded by the European Commission.

Antonino Tripodi

 

Civil engineer specialized in transport since 2002 and a PhD in Transport Systems since 2006, Antonino is a research fellow at the CTL. Over the years, he has carried out research on the simulation of vehicle traffic, on the assessment of the behavior of drivers using driving simulators, road safety and sustainable mobility.

He participated, in the international arena, in research projects on the modeling of innovative transport systems and the definition of strategies for the improvement of transport safety and, at national level, in planning projects of transport and to improve road safety .

He has managed the European ESTEEM and SAFERBRAIN projects. Currently, among other activities, he is managing a project for the reform of the process of collecting data on road accidents on behalf of the Government of Cameroon.

Davide Shingo Usami

 

Engineer for the Environment and Territory and PhD in Transportation Engineering since 2007, Davide is a research fellow for the CTL. He deals with transport and road safety since 2003 and has participated in several national and European research projects and working groups, including: Edict, Rosebud, SafetyNet, DaCoTa and IRTAD.

He collaborated with the CTL since 2008 as an expert of analysis of road accidents and road safety management, with particular reference to the design and development of methods and support tools for monitoring and security governance.

Luigi Vergelli

 

Degree in Engineering for the Environment and Territory (main: Planning) in 2004, Luigi has gained experience in transport planning and design by attending various specialized courses including the Public Transport Planning and Operations held by Prof. Avishai Ceder at University of Auckland .

He is currently a research fellow at the CTL.

Over the years he has conducted research in various fields, such as: planning and sustainable mobility, with particular attention to aspects of development and analysis of the patterns and of public and private transport demand and offering.

At national level, given the experience gained in the preparation of the traffic plans, of urban mobility, he manages projects for the planning of transport services and the implementation of measures to improve road safety by cooperating with many regional, provincial and city governments.
